The second cost-determining factor, the desired treatment method, refers to the type of braces. From removable to fixed and from visible to invisible, braces for adults can have very different characteristics. The different braces also differ in terms of their respective manufacturing costs.

Statutory health insurance: What does statutory health insurance pay for orthodontics for adults?
Under certain conditions, the statutory health insurance fund will also contribute to the costs of orthodontic treatment for adults with pronounced jaw misalignments. For this, the malocclusion must be assignable to a corresponding orthodontic indication group (KIG). The treatment must also be a combination of orthodontic and oral surgery. If orthodontic treatment is carried out on adults without orthodontic surgery, the costs are categorically not covered by statutory health insurance for adults. There are a large number of private health insurance companies. Each has an individual policy on orthodontics for adults. While some private insurance companies cover all the costs of orthodontic treatment for adults without restriction, others attach certain conditions to the reimbursement of costs. Others exclude orthodontics altogether. To find out what the situation is with your insurance, it is worth taking a look at your individual contract conditions.
